I was recently reading a blog, Adventures of Law Mommy, and the blog writer is a lawyer who recently adopted a little girl (who, like my little girls, likes Polly Pockets - as I write this, there is a Polly Pocket boat expedition being planned).
She had to put through paperwork to change both her name, after marriage, and her child's name. Equipping herself with 13 plus pieces of paperwork, she waited in a very quick line, got a wonderful clerk, and managed getting a social security name change for both people in under 20 minutes. "I actually had a PLEASANT experience at the Social Security Administration. I encountered not one, but TWO, pleasant, knowledgeable federal bureaucratic types."
This is not the usual way things go!
